Illini On Demand

Well, I was asked to give an update on the Illini on the blog. In their last game the Illini found a way to win ugly again. This time they spent a good chunk of time trailing. While watching the game it became obvious why this was the case. Instead of doing what has made them successful all year the decided to adopt an offensive style that involved passing once and then shoot a three pointer. Not a very high percentage shot selection. It was absolutely frustrating to watch as they popped 3 pointer after 3 pointer (missing at least 10 in a row at one point) as the Wolverines gradually pulled away. Finally, half way through the second half, coach Webber called a time out and gave the team a reality check. After the time out the boys came out playing tenacious defense, where Dee Brown alone scored 6 points in a row off forced turn overs. From there on in the Wolverines were done. Illinois' offense was still spotty but they made up for it on defense and remained undefeated! This Saturday they will be taking on the Wisconsin Badgers at home in Assembly Hall. If Illinois plays offense like they have in the last 2 games they could lose this one. It will be interesting to see how they respond. I will post the highlights following the game.
